Buildings to rear of Saracen's Head, No.42 Broad Street (qv). Early C19. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar painted to front, roof unseen with moulded stack to left return. PLAN: Double depth plan. EXTERIOR: Two and three storeys, four-window irregular front. To left, a three storey, two-window block with returned coped parapet and cornice, splayed reveals to paired six/six-pane sash windows with shared sills to left of upper floors (those to second floor with horns) and ground floor platband returned to left and continuing across the block to right. Ground floor blank. Two two-storey blocks to right has continuous parapet and cornice, six/six-pane sash window to centre of central block; wide carriage entrance to ground floor. Block to right has blind window to left of first floor and C20 garage doors below. INTERIOR: Now united with the Saracen's Head: interior much altered. HISTORY: No.1 was the King's Arms in 1800, so this building may date from then.
