Description

This mid-19th century mews house and stable is located in Pulteney Mews and has 20th-century additions. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar with a restored, hipped pantile roof. It has a double-depth plan. The two-storey, five-window facade features a central, stepped-forward bay with clasping pilasters. A four-pane first-floor window is centred within this bay, flanked by paired two-over-two pane sash windows. A Vitruvian scroll band sits above a tripartite ground-floor window with a door and triple window to the left, and a door to the right. The right return features a segmental arched first-floor window within an elaborate, pedimented surround supported on corbels. The ground floor on the right return has 20th-century infill and garage doors. A 20th-century fire escape is located on the left return. The interior was not inspected. Group value is present due to its context within Pulteney Mews.
