Description
The entrance kiosks and gates to the recreation ground are a pair of ornamental structures dating from around 1900. They are made of painted timber and feature lead roofs with cast iron cresting along the ridges and turnstiles, as well as wrought iron gates. The kiosks have a rectangular plan with square cabins at the rear. Their ogee domed roofs include roll joints and fine cresting, while cornices and friezes encircle the buildings. The cabins are finished with vertical tongue and groove panelling and have moulded architraves around small paned horizontal oval windows at the front, along with small square windows facing the entrance. The inner sides of the roofs create canopies over the turnstiles, supported by columns topped with gadrooned urns and similar half-columns against the cabins. The double wrought iron gates feature circles between the tops of the vertical railings.
