Description

This is a pillar box located on the southwest side of Laura Place, built in 1867. It is made of cast iron and features a hexagonal "Penfold" design. The ogee dome is adorned with acanthus-leaf ornamentation and topped with a large bud finial. The cornice has large balls, and there is a royal crest on the frieze above two lintel bands. The front has a slit for posting letters, flanked by raised letters that read "POST" on the left and "OFFICE" on the right. Below the slit, there is a frame displaying posting times alongside a scrolled VR monogram. The pillar box stands on a moulded plinth, and the door and lock are located on the right-hand facet.
