Description
No. 14 on Broad Street is a shop with living space above, built in the early 18th century and likely raised in the early 19th century, with 20th-century alterations. The building is made of limestone ashlar, and the roof is not visible from the street. It has a narrow double-depth plan with the entrance on the right.
The exterior features four storeys. The ground floor has a mid-20th-century 'Georgian' shopfront with a four by six multi-paned window, timber pilasters, and a fascia. The first and second floors have paired plain sash windows with a stone mullion between them, and there is a drip detail between these upper floors. The top floor has ashlar of a different character and features an eight over eight sash window, indicating that the building was raised to create a full attic in the early 19th century. The building is topped with a cornice and a parapet. The rear elevation was not visible. The interior was not inspected, except for the ground floor, which did not appear to have any features of special interest.
