Description

Rosemount Farm, Rosemount Cottage, and Montrose is a former farmhouse that has been converted into three dwellings. It likely has origins from the 17th century but was refenestrated in the mid-19th century and extended in the late 19th century, with some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar, with some rubble, and features double Roman tile roofs.

The main range, which faces south and has a gable end towards the street, has been extended by one bay. It includes a front stepped wing with a flat roof and a parapet, as well as a lower gabled wing to the rear that is part of Rosemount Cottage. The main front is two storeys high and has two large margin pane sash windows above a 20th-century glazed door with sidelights. To the left, in the later wing, there are paired margin pane sashes set in a flush stone mullion at each level. A single margin pane sash is set above an early 20th-century door with a glazed panel, which is topped by a segmental pediment on brackets featuring a floral keystone and a small carved block at the horizontal cornice. All windows have thin drip courses with small decorative stops. There are ashlar stacks at each coped parapet, and a small off-centre stack on the right. The end bay appears to have been stitched into the masonry, suggesting it may have been rebuilt or extended. The road-facing wing is plain rendered, with a gable that has two three-light casements above square margin pane sashes. The lower wing, made of ashlar, features two six-pane sashes with decorative iron guards. The interior has not been inspected.
