Description
Rosemount is an early 19th-century detached house with 20th-century additions, originally known as Rosemount on Rosemount Lane. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar with slate roofs. It follows an irregular L-shaped plan, with a long, narrow wing running parallel to Rosemount Lane, featuring canted ends and hipped roofs. A broader wing extends to the rear, also with a hipped roof. The entrance is located in the internal angle on the Lyncombe Vale Road side, positioned at the higher end of a steeply sloping site.
The east front, facing into the valley, exhibits a single sash window in the recessed wing and one window to each facet of the end bay above a corresponding arrangement at ground level. The Rosemount Lane frontage has a painted blind twelve-pane window at each level on the left side, a six-pane window in the centre above a panelled door within pilasters and a segmental pediment, believed to be from the early 20th century. To the right is a projecting, flat-roofed, two-storey bay with large sash windows. The upper end of the house features blind lights, and a wing to the right includes a single sash above a glazed conservatory porch. Late 20th-century garages and outbuildings are situated at the upper end, adjacent to the road. The interior has not been inspected.
