Description
The Powderhouse, built around 1870, is located 120 meters east in a field. It is a rectangular structure measuring 3 meters by 2 meters, divided into two cells. The building features simple gabled architecture with rubble walls. The east gable has a plain opening fitted with a riveted steel door and frame. Its roof consists of three layers: stone slabs, thick bitumen, and concrete. Inside, the walls are lined with brick and vaulted, with inset timber plates intended for timber lining that is no longer present. There is a cross wall with a plain opening and sleeper walls, but the floor is missing. The east end of the building faces an inclined plane that led down to Coombe End and Middle Pit Radstock, for which the powderhouse was constructed.
