Description
Radstock Market Hall, built in 1897, is a metal frame structure featuring a corrugated asbestos roof along with glass and corrugated iron panels, which fill the clerestory on the south side. The building has moulded eaves and a verge board, with a raised louvred upper section on the roof. It consists of a ten bay aisled hall, with a glazed gable end to the west where the ground floor has been filled in, featuring a wide semi-circular fanlight above a now-blocked doorway. A wide fascia at the aisle head level is painted with the words "Radstock Market." The east gable is made of stone and topped with a ball finial. A central four-way clock is positioned with an ornamental belfry above it. The south aisle includes a pedimented entrance, and the ground floor bays are divided for shops. The clerestory on the north side has been retained. Inside, the workings of the clock are a notable feature at the west end.
