Description
Numbers 131 to 161 and 181 to 193 are two blocks of houses located on the north-west side of Orchard Street, separated by Orchard Avenue. These small houses date from the early 19th century and are in very good condition, resembling those at Franklin Place. They are two storeys high with an attic and feature slate roofs, each with one dormer. The houses are finished in stucco and have one window each. The windows are sash style, set in reveals with flat arches, and the glazing bars remain intact except for the ground floor windows of Nos 181, 191, and 193. Number 185 includes a small projecting early 19th-century shop window on the ground floor, which also has intact glazing bars. The doorways of Nos 131 to 157 have flat arches, while Nos 161 and 181 to 193 feature elliptical arched doorways, with doors set back in reveals. Some of the doors are modern, while others have six flush panels. The doorways are flanked by pilasters that support projecting cornices above.
