Description
No 17 St John's Street is an early 19th-century building that forms a pair with No 1 New Town, which is adjacent. It features a slightly higher frontage compared to Nos 15 and 16. The building has a hipped tiled roof and a narrow central brick chimney stack. There is a small brick cornice with dentils at the eaves. Constructed of red brick, it stands three storeys tall and has one window bay. A small window opening is located on the second storey, with sash windows set in reveals beneath segmental arches, and all glazing bars are intact. The entrance consists of a six-panelled door topped by a semi-circular fanlight, set within a semi-circular arched doorway that is flanked by pilasters and has a cornice above. Nos 11 to 17 St John's Street collectively form a group with No 1 New Town.
