Description

This is a pair of early 19th century houses located on St John’s Street. They are three storeys high with a basement. Each house has a single window. The roofs are tiled with a hip at the southern end, and there are two brick stacks. The houses are constructed of red brick with grey brick headers laid alternately. A small brick dentilled eaves cornice runs along the top. The windows are sash windows with flush boxes set in flat arches. The glazing bars are intact, and the first and ground floor windows are set within segmental brick headings with brick voussoirs. The front doors are six-panelled, with the two upper panels cut away and glazed. They are set within reveals, with moulded frames, and rectangular pediments above. Numbers 11 to 17, along with Number 1 New Town, form a group.
