Description

Richmond House is a mid-19th century building of three storeys and an attic, with a basement. It is located on the north side of Westgate. The roof is slate, hipped in form, and covered in cement with a cornice and blocking course. Bands delineate the floors. The ground floor is rusticated. Originally featuring four windows, the building now has later 19th-century sash windows in the reveals, lacking their original glazing bars. The windows retain architraves with decorative lugs, and iron guards are present on the first-floor windows. A flat-arched doorway, approached by four steps, has a modern door and a rectangular fanlight above. A modern attic storey has been added. Richmond House forms a group with Nos. 16 to 48 (Even) on Westgate.
