Description
38 and 39 North Street is a building from the 18th century that was originally constructed as a single house. It stands three storeys high and features six windows. The roof is red tiled, and there is an eaves cornice decorated with small modillions. The front is cement rendered, and the second floor has smaller windows. The sash windows have flush boxes set in flat arches, and the glazing bars remain intact. The doorway to No 38 is adorned with pilasters that have leaf caps and a rectangular pediment above. The door itself is a six-panelled design, with two fielded panels and the top two panels cut away and glazed. No 39 has a later 19th-century plate glass shop front on the ground floor. Nos 35 to 49 North Street form a group with this building.
