Description

Marlipins Museum is a store that has been converted into a museum, dating back to the 12th and 14th centuries. The building features a chequer pattern of squared dressed Caen stone and flint on the High Street side, with stone dressings and a rendered gable end. The Middle Street side is made of flint and pebble, with some red brick patching. It has a hipped Horsham stone slab roof and stands two storeys tall.

The south front facing High Street has painted pointed-arched windows on the first floor, with a round-headed relieving arch above, positioned to the right of centre. There are pointed arched doorways with chamfered stone surrounds on both the right and left sides of the ground floor, along with a small pointed-arched window off-centre to the left. The doors are boarded and ribbed, likely from the 19th century.

On the east front, there are three large windows on the first floor that are irregularly placed, featuring wood-framed diamond-lattice casements. The ground floor has two small depressed-arched windows that are also irregularly spaced. Inside, the building has a collar-purlin roof supported by a crown-post at each end, with two queen-posts in the centre that support ties and short crown-posts. The original 14th-century floor is still intact.
