Description

Sutton Green House is a house with a timber frame core dating to the 16th century, significantly altered in the 18th century and with 20th-century additions. The ground floor is rendered, while the upper part is tile hung, with whitewashed brick to the left end. The roof is plain tiled, with a stack to the rear right. The house is two storeys high, with a flat band above the ground floor. The windows are a mix of casements and glazing bar sash windows, with five across the first floor. A part-glazed door has a decorative “Gothick” head of glazing bars and is set in a deep recess to the left. A 20th-century addition extends to the left end, while a smaller tile-hung bay projects to the right end, with timber framing visible on its return front. A 20th-century weatherboard extension runs along the rear. The interior reveals some of the original timber framing.
