Description

Quaves Hatch is a house dating back to the 16th century, with later additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed with a timber frame, the infill panels rendered and the upper portion tile-hung. The roof is tiled with half-hipped sections at the ends, and has ridge stacks situated centrally and to the right of centre. The house is two storeys high, featuring 20th-century casement windows with a diamond leaded pattern, four across the first floor. There are projecting square bays with hipped roofs to both the left and right sides. A plank door is located on the left-hand return front, set within a recess of an addition to the rear left. Further additions, also in a similar style, are present at the rear and on the right end of the house.

Inside, the substantial timber frame is visible, including a jowl post on the first floor. A deep brick fireplace with a wooden lintel is also present.
