Description

The Old Cottage, formerly known as Whitmore Vale Cottage, is a 18th-century, two-storey cottage located on Whitmoor Vale Road in Hindhead. The building features masonry on the first floor that suggests it may have originally been a one-storey structure. It has four later windows, with the two inner ones being very narrow, despite the cottage only being two rooms and a bakehouse wide. The exterior is constructed of malmstone rubble, with quoins and dressings made of varying red brick. The roof is tiled, with a chimney at the right end and another chimney on the blank rear wall. The cottage has 19th-century casement windows with stuccoed lintels, and a late 19th-century tiled gabled porch.
