Description

Bowes Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 18th century, with early 19th-century additions and 20th-century extensions and restoration work. The walls are constructed of mixed materials, including stone and brick, with a tiled roof. The front, facing south-west, has two storeys and two windows. The roof is hipped. The upper part of the timber frame is exposed, with stone and brick infill, while the lower walls are stone with brick quoins, all now painted. Casement windows are present. A gabled porch was added in the 20th century. A large, tapered stack is located on the south-east end, and an outshot with a boarded half-gable above stone walling is on the north-west end. A 20th-century extension, in a similar style, is situated at the rear.
