Description
Heather Bank Cottage is a two-story, L-shaped lodge building dating from 1900, originally part of the Heather Bank estate, the home of Dr Marie Stopes. The lower portion of the building is constructed of red brick, while the upper portion is roughcast. It has tiled roofs. A catslide roof covers an open loggia in the angle of the building, with a dormer window above. The main gable end features vigorous decorative plasterwork and includes the date 1900, as well as large carved bargeboards. The windows are mullioned and transomed, designed in the style of R. Norman Shaw. A dentil cornice runs below the gable end. The building is listed partly due to its historical connection with the Heather Bank estate.
