Description
April Cottage, also known as Old Cottage, is a 17th-century house that has been divided into separate units. It features a timber frame with the main posts visible on the ground floor to the right. The lower part of the building is mostly clad in red and brown brick, while the upper part is covered in tile hung in a fishscale pattern, which sweeps out over the ground floor. The roof is half-hipped and covered with plain tiles.
The house has two storeys and includes offset end stacks to the right, with some galleted sandstone in the plinth and an end stack to the left, as well as a front stack located to the left of center. On the first floor, there are three 19th-century windows and one gabled dormer casement window to the left. The ground floor features three windows and one window to the left, which is situated under a cambered head. There are paired planked doors to the left of center and an additional door on the right-hand return front.
