Description

Number 8 Castle Street is a building constructed between 1869 and 1870 by local builders Goddards. It is three storeys high and features three windows. The exterior is finished in stucco and includes string courses and an eaves bracket cornice. The windows are set in moulded architrave surrounds, with those on the first floor having pediments above them, while the second-floor windows are segmental-headed. At the south end of the building, there is a carriage archway through the ground floor. The roof is covered with hipped slate. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 9 Lowndes Buildings on the west side of Castle Street.
