Description
This building, originally a house from the 17th century, is now divided into shops, specifically Attwell Roger (Optician), a delicatessen, and an off licence. The ground floor features stuccoed shop fronts from the 19th and 20th centuries, while the upper floors are tile hung beneath plain tiled roofs. It stands two storeys high with attics in jettied gables. A large stack is positioned to the right of the center, with a rebuilt corbelled top. The central gable has a three-light, diamond-pane leaded casement window set on a moulded sill, and a four-light square bay window on the first floor, which is sheltered by a pentice hood supported by brackets. To the left, there is a single light window, and a small square bay window is located under the gable on the first floor to the left. The smaller gable to the right features a two-light window, with a larger window below it. The ground floor shop fronts project outward and consist of plate glass windows and glazed doors that are recessed in the center. Inside, the ceiling frame is exposed in the wine merchants area.
