Description
No. 19 Nightingale Road is a Cemetery Lodge built in 1857. It is constructed of Bargate rubblestone with ashlar dressings and features a concrete tile roof. The building has a T-plan layout and stands two storeys tall with two bays. The right bay forms a cross-wing that includes a circular tower at the angle with the left bay.
Designed in the Gothic style, the windows have cusped heads and relieving arches. The structure has a chamfered plinth and quoins, while the left bay is blind. The tower features a single-light window with an impost band, an eaves band decorated with trefoils and nail-head motifs below a plain cornice, and a conical roof topped with a decorative iron finial.
In the right bay, there is a central doorway, which has been converted into a window, set within a chamfered 4-centred-arched surround. This doorway is topped by a bracketed half-hipped canopy with plain tiles and flanked by quatrefoils. The first floor has a two-light window and bargeboards. There are two rendered stacks on the left side and one near the eaves of the left bay.
