Description
Clifton is a house built in the mid-19th century, likely for J Moon, and has been altered and added to over time. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with painted stone dressings and features a plain tile roof. The house has two storeys and three bays, presenting a symmetrical appearance with a chamfered plinth, rusticated quoins, an eaves band, a plain cornice, and a coped parapet with end piers that were formerly topped with hipped capstones.
The central entrance consists of a six-panel door, with the upper four panels now glazed, set within a Tuscan portico. The front columns of the portico have been replaced, and it features a deep entablature and blocking course. The windows are sash style with glazing bars; those on the ground floor have architraves, friezes, and console brackets that once supported cornices, now removed. The first-floor windows have raised plain surrounds that extend into the eaves band. The roof is hipped, and there are two stacks on each side, with the front stacks now covered in Welsh slate. The rear of the house has stepped dentilled eaves and paired hipped gables. The interior has not been inspected. The design is similar to that of No 22, known as Nightingale Lodge.
