Description
This barn and stable, located approximately 2 metres east of Tigbourne Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century to the 17th century. It was extended to the north in the 19th century and restored in the 20th century. The structure features a timber frame set on a sandstone and brick plinth, with renewed weatherboard cladding and a plain tiled half-hipped roof. The building has an L-shaped plan.
On the south side, there are four framed bays, three two-light casement windows, and one part-glazed stable-style door. The north side includes one fixed window and one stable-style door in the barn section, along with one loft door and two stable doors in the floored stable section to the left. Inside, the barn has a clasped purlin roof supported by queen-strut trusses, with arched braces to the jowled angle posts and arched windbraces in the roof.
