GV II

Cattle shelter. C18 with later alterations. Timber framed, originally with weatherboard cladding to rear and vertical planks to right gable; plain tile roof. 4-bay open-fronted shelter shed attached to barn (qv) at east end and with C20 cattle shelter to rear. Board hatch shutter in rear wall. Pigeon holes in west gable. Wooden posts on brick plinths have braces to wall-plate and to cambered tie-beams which carry king-posts each with a single curved brace down to tie-beam (on alternating sides) and up to the ridge-piece. Covered passage added at front under lean-to corrugated-iron roof. An unusual example of an C18 cattle shelter which forms an integral part of the farmyard.
