Description
This building is a barn and cow shelter, likely built in the mid- to late 18th century. It features a timber frame with weatherboards, a rubble and brick plinth, and a roof made of plain tiles and corrugated iron. The barn has seven bays and faces the road, running east to west, with the cow shelter extending to the north from the west end. There are full-height ledged doors leading to the threshing floor in the third bay from the west. The frame consists of two panels high from the high plinth to the wall-plate, with some woven infill still visible at the west end of the north side. The cow shelter has timber posts and is open to the east, while a high gabled brick screen wall on the south side connects to the barn's south wall. This combination of masonry and timber framing is typical for the region, although the brickwork appears to be a later addition. The cow shelter is included for the completeness of the group and serves as a good example of this type of structure.
