Description

This milestone, located on the island before the junction of Alton Road with Chamber Lane, dates from the 18th century. It is made of stone and has a diamond shape with a faceted plinth. The word "Farnham" is inscribed at the top of the front, with a curved band below it that reads "London." The triangular section below features the number "40" pointing downwards towards the faceted plinth. The left facet displays "Alton 7," while the right facet shows "Alton 8."
