Description
Limes Cottage is part of The Limes, located on the northwest side of The Street in Wrecclesham. This building dates from the 18th century and features a front addition to the southeast. The entrance front of The Limes faces northeast and has a very deep, steeply pitched tile gabled roof. It is two storeys high with two window bays and a painted brick front. The sash windows are three panes wide, with the lower ones having segmental heads. The doorway is also segmental headed and features a six-panelled door. There is an external stack at the right-hand end.
The southeast gable end of The Limes is tile-hung, and attached to it is a low two-storey addition from the 19th century, which has a hipped slate roof and a painted brick front. This addition has overhanging eaves and sash windows that are five panes wide, with the lower one being segmental headed. To the right of this addition is a lean-to outshot with a tile roof, part of which is hipped and includes an external stack. Further to the right, adjoining The Street, is a modern annexe with a modern three-light window.
At the northeast of the range, also adjoining The Street, is another small two-storey building from the 19th century, which comprises Limes Cottage. This building has two window bays and a door facing The Street. It features a slate hipped roof with tile ridges, a projecting rendered plinth, and a painted brick front. The sash windows are set in reveals, with the lower ones being segmental headed. The doorway is segmental headed and has a four-panelled door.
Limes Cottage and The Limes are part of a group that includes Nos 76 to 98, Nos 102 and 104, and The Royal Oak Public House.
