Description

This is a 19th-century stable block located to the north-west of Willey Place. It is one storey and an attic, with five bays facing towards the entrance front of Willey Place. The roof is half-hipped and tiled, with two box dormers above the end bays. The building has brick dentil eaves and a projecting red brick plinth at the front. The end bays contain sash windows with three panes, while two semi-circular lunettes, featuring radiating glazing, flank the central doorway. A six-panelled door is topped by a three-light rectangular fanlight. To the right is a recessed wing with a panelled parapet of five panels, sheltered by a modern tiled canopy supported on brick piers. A loft door with a lunette below is present on the returning left-hand wall, adjacent to a pump with a brick basin. The lead head of the pump is inscribed with the initials "W & M" and the date "1787".
