Description

The Sun Public House is a public house located on High Street in Chobham. It dates back to the early 17th century and was altered and extended in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame set on a rendered plinth, with an incised render dado above and rough-cast cladding on the upper part. The roofs are plain tiled, with machine tiles on the left side.

The structure is two storeys high and has a gable front cross wing on the left. There is a plat band over the ground floor in the center and to the right. The building has a square ridge stack at the right end and a narrow front stack in the re-entrant angle with the cross wing.

On the left wing, there is an angle bay window that rises through both floors. The first floor has glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor features diamond pane leaded casements. To the left of the center on the first floor is a 16-pane glazing bar sash window, and to the right, there is one casement window. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century glazing bar sash window to the right and a diamond pane leaded casement window to the left of center in the angle bay.

A six-fielded panel door is located to the left in the gabled wing, sheltered by a shallow gabled hood. There is also a further part-glazed door under a similar hood to the right of center. Some of the timber framing is exposed on the left-hand return front.
