Description
The Horse Shoes Public House is a public house located on Dean Street in East Farleigh. It dates from the early 17th century or earlier and may have been built in two phases, with a facade added in the late 18th century or early 19th century. The building is timber framed and rendered, topped with a plain tile roof. It consists of approximately four timber-framed bays and stands two storeys high on a rendered plinth. The rear features partly exposed framing with two square panels per storey, arch braces, and two principal posts near the stack. The roof is hipped with a gablet on the left side.
The building has a multiple brick ridge stack located in the second bay from the left and a truncated stack at the right gable end. The windows are arranged irregularly, with four sashes on each floor; there are two tripartite sashes flanking the stack and two 16-pane sashes towards the right end. The entrance features a panelled door on the left and a half-glazed door on the right, both adorned with flat bracketed hoods. The interior has only been partly inspected but includes exposed framing, a 6-light diamond mullion window, a 4-centred arched doorhead on the rear wall, and stone fireplaces.
