Description

North Lodge, situated within GATTON PARK, is a small, square, single-story building dating from the early 19th century. The lodge is faced with rough plaster and has been white-washed. It features a central chimney rising from a near-pyramidal thatched roof. There are two windows facing south and two facing west, all with pointed casement windows. A round-headed doorway is topped with a semi-circular tympanum and contains a six-panel door. A thatched porch supported by rustic wooden columns shelters the doorway. To the north, a picket fence, curving segmentally on plan, consists of two rows of club-headed pickets, the lower row positioned above a half rail. The fence includes one double and one single pointed wooden gate with inserted wrought iron ornament.
