Description
Red Cottage is a house that appears to date from the mid 19th century, although it may be older. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with blue headers. The building features gauged near-flat brick arches above the sash windows, which have glazing bars. It stands two storeys tall and has three windows. The roof is fairly high-pitched and slated, with chimneys at both ends. The entrance includes a six-panel door topped by a low, oblong fanlight, all set within a surround of narrow pilasters and a bracketed cornice hood. Red Cottage is included in the listing for its group value, as it forms part of a collection with Nos 23 to 31 (odd), and the Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough located to the east of Nos 27 and 29.
