Description
Ravenleigh Cottage and April Cottage are two houses located on Station Road in Betchworth, dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. The buildings are timber framed, with the right side exposed and featuring whitewashed brick infill and whitewashed render cladding on the left. They have a plain tiled roof that is hipped to the right. The cottages are two storeys high, with a small stack on the right and another stack to the left of the centre at the forward break of April Cottage. The right side has two framed bays, with two windows on the first floor, two ground floor windows, and one cambered head window on the ground floor to the left. There is a door to the right of centre in a gabled porch on Ravenleigh Cottage, and an additional door on the left return front. A single-storey, 20th-century, hip-roofed brick wing projects at right angles to the front left of centre, which is now used as a garage. Inside, there is substantial exposed framing, a deep fireplace, and an old doorway.
