Description
The temple in the grounds of Broome Park is an early 19th-century folly that incorporates elements from a late 18th-century Palladian design. It is constructed of brick and has plastered interiors, although the original domed roof has collapsed. The building features an oval plan and a later Doric portico with four columns that support a pediment at the front. The pediment is now in poor condition, with some remnants of slates and a triglyph frieze still visible. Inside, there is late Palladian plasterwork with fielded panels. The entrance wall is accented by black rusticated quoins at the corners and a keystoned door. At the time of the last survey, the temple was derelict.
