Terrace Steps With Loggia Approximately 15 Metres South West Of South West Front Of Cherkley Court

The terrace steps with loggia, built in the late 19th century, are located approximately 15 metres south west of the south west front of Cherkley Court. Constructed from limestone ashlar and stucco, these steps connect the upper and lower levels of a terraced garden. They feature a wide flight of steps leading down to a deck on the roof of the loggia, which is integrated into the terrace and flanked by stone staircases that descend to the lower garden. The structure is designed in a classical style, characterized by banded rustication, three round-headed arches with keystones, a decorative band, and a balustraded parapet. The steps have nosings and are bordered by matching balustrades adorned with shallow urns. This feature is included for its group value.
