Description
The Loggia and attached terrace wall and steps are an early 19th-century structure made of ashlar stone. They are oriented east-west and face south. The building is one storey high and features a parapet band along with a balustraded parapet that has square-section piers marking the divisions between the nine bays. Each end bay showcases an openwork parapet designed with a Greek key pattern. The loggia includes round-headed arches with raised keys and an incised pattern on each pilaster. A central flight of stone steps leads up to the middle of the loggia. To the left, there is a retaining wall that supports a garden terrace. This structure is part of an important garden layout that is registered as Grade I on the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England Gardens Register.
