Description

The garden walls and former entrance walls to the now demolished Hall Place date from the 18th century. They are constructed of galleted sandstone with brick dressings on the edges. The walls are buttressed every 15 feet on the south side. The height of the walls is approximately 8 feet on the north side and 12 feet on the south side, forming a rectangular plan that measures about 60 yards by 30 yards. There is a central flat-lintel gateway in the south wall, with steps leading up from both the left and right sides, flanked by arched and buttressed pier walls on the south side. These walls are included for their group value only.
