Description
The Hayloft and former stable block to Pirbright Lodge is a former stable block that has been converted into houses. It dates from the late 18th century and features 20th-century extensions at both ends. The building is constructed of red brick with gauged brick dressings and has hipped plain tiled roofs. It stands two storeys high and includes a plat band that is rendered over the ground floor, along with dentilled eaves and a copper scroll work finial on the roof.
The facade is symmetrical, with a design labeled ABCBA, featuring shallow, projecting end bays and a central two-storey break. The first floor of the end bays has thermal windows beneath gauged, keystoned heads, with two square windows on either side of the centre on the same floor. There is a door at the centre of the first floor, also under a gauged brick head. On the ground floor, there are glazing bar sash windows on either side of the centre, set under gauged brick arches over a rendered plat band, and separated by brick piers. A door is located at the centre of the ground floor under a gauged brick head, with end doors flanked by windows. The building also has single-storey extensions at both ends.
