Description
This barn, located 80 yards west of the Church of St. Bartholomew, dates back to the 15th century, with alterations made in the 17th and 18th centuries. It features a timber frame set on a plinth of red and blue brick, with weatherboard cladding and brick infill on the exposed frame at the ends. The roof is tiled and hipped, with a gablet at the left end and a gable at the right, sloping down over the aisles on both the north and south sides. The barn consists of seven framed bays, with a central, recessed, full-height wagon door and a blocked plank door to the left, as well as another door on the left-hand return. Inside, there are arcaded posts with dovetailed joints connecting the tie beams and the arcade plate, along with lateral braced crown posts. There is evidence that both ends of the roof were originally hipped.
