Description
C. Traylen Bookshop is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 17th century, with a front that was added in the 18th century and alterations made in the 20th century. The rear is timber framed, while the front is faced in red brick with a tile-hung gable end and a plain tiled roof. The building has three storeys above a cellar, featuring a plinth at the ground floor, plat bands over the ground and first floors, brick-dentilled eaves, and a stack at the rear. On the second floor, there is one sash window set in an architrave surround. The first floor has a four-light, mullioned and transomed casement window below, and the ground floor features a large plate glass shop window with a blocked basement window beneath it. To the right, there is a three-quarter glazed door under an over-light.
