Description
This building, originally houses, now functions as a shop on Quarry Street in Guildford. The front of the building dates to the late 18th century, while the rear section originates from the 17th century. The front facade is of colourwashed brick, with a stone-coped parapet concealing the plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys high on the left side, with a three-bay range to the right incorporating attics. Chimneys are located at the right end and to the rear. The attic storey features three six-pane sash windows, each with a gauged brick head. The first floor has three tall twelve-pane glazing bar sash windows, with a tripartite sash bow window on the left; the central twelve-pane window is flanked by eight-light windows. A modern shop front occupies the ground floor, supported by pilaster piers with moulded capitals above. The ground floor features fixed shop windows, a part-glazed door to the right recessed within a deep panelled reveal and a glazed door to the left, both beneath matching transoms. A modern extension to the rear is not considered to be of special architectural interest.
