Description
The Tithe Barn, located 50 yards west of number 78 (Parkside School) in Stoke D'Abernon, is a barn that has been converted into a gymnasium. It dates back to the 16th century, with 20th-century additions. The structure is built of red brick and features a 19th-century plain tiled roof, which has a stack at the rear left and front right. The barn is two storeys high and includes a gabled louvred opening in the roof.
On the first floor, there are five 20th-century glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor has cambered head windows. The ground floor is supported by two brick piers in the centre, which have pentice roof tiled hoods over either side of a blocked entrance. To the left, there is a part-glazed door beneath a flat hood supported by brackets. The south-east side features projecting end piers with moulded capitals and diagonal buttresses. Additionally, there is a 20th-century double gable front extension at the left end.
