Description
Bell Cottage is an 18th-century house located on Church Street in Charlbury. It was originally listed as a house adjoining The Bell Inn on its north-east side. The house is constructed of coursed squared rubble with 20th-century timber lintels and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys and an attic in height, with a two-window front. Two stone steps lead to a simple panelled door-case featuring six raised and fielded panels. The pediment above the door is missing and has been replaced with a 20th-century pitched hood. A canted bay window now obscures the original timber lintel. The ground and first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars. There is a rendered gabled dormer with casement windows. Two gable-end chimneys are present. Inside, a staircase is located to the left of a chimney, and the exposed roof features purlins. The interior has not been inspected.
