Description

The building is an 18th-century house, originally a market house. It is located in Church Street, Charlbury. Constructed of coursed squared rubble, it features timber lintels (mainly 20th century), a slate roof, and a brick chimney on the right end. The house is two storeys high with an attic and a cellar, and has a symmetrical facade with two windows. A 20th-century panelled door is set beneath a pedimented hood supported by consoles. The ground and first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The interior has been extensively altered but retains some boxed beams, an inglenook fireplace with one original seat, and a massive chamfered beam in the cellar. 20th-century flat-roofed additions have been made to the rear of the building. The interior was not inspected. The building holds group value, contributing to the character of the area.
