Description
The Bell Hotel is an inn dating from 1700, as indicated by a date stone. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble and features a stone slate roof. The building has a two-unit through-passage plan with later additions and an L-shaped wing to the east. It stands two storeys tall and has a symmetrical three-window range. The main entrance consists of a panelled door with a timber lintel, flanked by two slightly canted bay windows that each contain pairs of sash windows with glazing bars. The right bay features a dentilled cornice. Above the door, there is a smaller sash window with glazing bars and horns. Gabled dormers on both sides have casement windows, and there is one 20th-century roof-light in the centre. The building has two gable-end chimneys and one ridge stack located to the left of centre. The L-shaped wing to the left has a two-window range and includes a canted ground-floor bay window. The front of this wing has two storeys and an attic, while the rear rises to three storeys and features 16-pane sash windows. The rear of the main part has a large 20th-century extension with twin gables.
