Description
This is a pair of cottages located approximately 30 metres southeast of The Grove, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared marlstone with some ashlar dressings and feature a plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The cottages form an L-shaped range, each being a two-unit cottage in the style of the 17th century, and they are two storeys high.
The left cottage has a symmetrical two-window front with a central doorway that is Tudor-arched and set beneath a label with carved lozenge stops. It has flanking stone-mullioned windows, with a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window above. The right cottage, which projects forward, has a similar front facing to the right and features blocked three-light mullioned windows in the end wall beneath a half-hipped gable. Both the left and rear gables have parapets.
The interiors have not been inspected. These cottages are mirrored by a second pair to the left and share similar details with contemporary estate cottages at Great Tew. They were built by the Wilson family of Over Worton House and are included for their group value.
