Description
Church Farmhouse and Church View are two houses dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. They are built of coursed limestone rubble and feature a gabled thatch roof, which is hipped to the left. The building has an external stone stack at the right end and stone and 19th-century brick ridge stacks. The layout is a three-unit through-passage plan, with one storey and an attic, and it has a four-window range.
The front has timber lintels over a 20th-century door and casements, as well as over two late 19th-century to early 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars to the right, and 20th-century dormer casements. The right gable features early 17th-century two-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows. There is a 17th-century rear right wing, which includes a late 17th-century to early 18th-century bay at the rear. This section has a concrete tile roof and a brick end stack, and it is also one storey and an attic, with a one-light window in a heavy pegged frame, two-light wood-mullioned windows, and a bread oven projection at the rear.
Inside, the front range has a stop-chamfered beam and 17th-century winder stairs next to a remodelled open fireplace in the central room. The rear range has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
